Sorting is all about collecting items with similarities and grouping them together. On Wednesday this week, we continued looking at sorting and using attributes to group similar objects together.
We did our sorting hands-on by using bug and under the sea shaped foam stickers and a triple Venn diagram.
First students gathered 10 foam stickers and decided how to sort them. We first thought of three major attributes we could sort by, colour, size, shape, what they do/used for - students came up with many different attributes to use.
After they sorted their stickers according to their attributes, they then had to see what stickers could fit in more than one attribute. As students were sorting their stickers, they would discuss why that sticker fit into more than one attribute.
Below you can see our wonderful work of sorting by three attributes.
